Mykki Blanco has unleased the visuals for new track “Loner”. Produced by Pornhub and fashion directed by Nicola Formichetti’s brand Nicopanda, the video was directed by New York filmmakers Anthony&Alex and features animation by Chicago artist Sam Rolfes.
The visuals are a highly stylised exploration of love, sexuality and isolation with fashion from Nicopanda’s F/W 2016 collection and a supporting cast of New York creatives. A lurid explosion of colour, the video sees humans masked by VR headsets, close yet distant and cut-off from those around them. As a performer Mykki is consistently one step ahead, a force of nature who is constantly progressing.
Mykki Blanco said: "Loner is a song about misunderstanding - and more than misunderstanding it's a song about a universal feeling of not feeling worthy enough, not feeling good enough. We as a human race go through so much and yet rarely are able to share our pain, our compromises. People only know a party persona when it comes to Mykki Blanco, with this album and with this song I want them to know who I am on the inside."
Directors Anthony&Alex added: “We wanted to focus on the major difficulty we feel living in a society where technology and social media is not only ever present, but extremely addictive and isolating. Playing with the idea of Mykki as both loner and supplier, we want to explore our roles in creating our own isolation. ‘Loner’ is the perfect mix of fun and upsetting, and we wanted the video to feel similarly. We’re so thankful to Mykki, Nicopanda and Pornhub for giving us total creative freedom and allowing us to fully realize this concept.”
In September Mykki released his long-awaited full-length debut album Mykki, the album was the culmination of five-years of work and artistic development.
