Today we’re bringing you the genre-hopping new track from Stranger Stranger. “Nation”, the follow-up to this summer’s much lauded “Sometimes”, was written by the duo and produced by Steve Brown (Laura Mvula). “Nation” showcases their superlative harmonies and their gift for layering their myriad influences to create a sound that transcends classification – an intimate sound that invites you into the unique sonic landscape they’ve created.
Comprised of Phil Solari and Marinda Lavut, Stranger Stranger met eight years ago have been playing continuously since then. The duo found success after busking outside the Montreal Jazz Festival where they caught the ears of the owners and were then invited to play to the festival’s audience.
Stranger Stranger had this to say about the track: “Like all our songs, ‘Nation’ is ambiguous. It's not about any one thing; it depends on who's hearing it and what's going on with them while they listen.”
The duo will be supporting the One Little Indian’s Sarah Walk at London Fields Brewery (1 Nov), The Hope, Brighton (2 Nov) and Notting Hill Arts Club (9 Nov).
