Tom Falle, former lead singer and writer for Synth Pop duo TEDDY, now makes music under the moniker Rhumba Club and has shared new track “Reunion”. The track has that melancholic yet danceable vibe that pretty much sums up ‘80s Britain but while it’s sonically referential, the tracks lyrics are utterly contemporary.
Since disbanding TEDDY, Tom has been obsessively listening to WHAM! and Erasure and tearing apart his masculinity – activities that we highly endorse doing.
Tom had this to say: "Reunion is about an uncomfortable meet up of a former gay couple, 5 years later. I framed it with references to late 80s pop ballads to give a sense of romantic haziness and naivety, but the sarcastic overtones in the lyrics betray a certain bitterness beneath the nostalgia."
Rhumba Club’s Club Night #2 takes place on 16 June at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Tickets available here
