How would you describe your sound?
I always struggle with this question because I think it’s really hard to put my sound into one bracket. I guess it’s like a fusion between Electro pop and Rock?
Your debut single is “Midnight”, what’s it about?
Midnight is a song about reflection. It’s about a relationship that is nearing its end and the decision as to whether it continues or not is out of your hands.
Gigging seems like it was a really important part of your musical development, what did you learn playing live?
Yeah it really was and continues to be. I learnt from a young age how to read the crowd and how to get them involved, my vocals and guitar playing also developed and got stronger with the more shows I did.
Some of your video was shot in the venue where you played your first gig; can you remember how it went?
I remember being very nervous but super excited at the same time, I did get a monthly residency off the back of it so it was all good!
The Wildcatz approached you to work on “Midnight”, how did that come about?
I posted a video on YouTube of me singing it at my studio and the guys found it and reached out to me. After that we just clicked, there's plenty more songs in the pipeline!
Who were you listening to growing up and have they shaped your sound today?
I have a really broad range of musical influences. I was brought up on a lot of Rock and Soul music but then discovered hip hop quite early on. I was always really in to the fusion between rock and rap like Cypress Hill and Rage Against The Machine and then into the Nu Metal era of Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. These have 100% shaped my sound.
To be fair though I do listen to anything from DnB to country music!
What was the last new record you really loved and why?
The most recent album that I had on repeat was the self-titled debut album from Mansionz. A collab between Mike Posner & Blackbear. It’s weird but wonderful and I love the good/bad, light/dark contrast throughout the album. Check it out!
What’s next for you?
Gigs! Lots of them! I’ve just finished building the new live show and its sounding BIG! So expect some epic shows and plenty of new tracks very soon!
“Midnight” is out now.
